If Everton are playing it cool over Martin Terrier then they need to drop the act and make a move for the player soon.

Lyon have now moved forward with their negotiations to sign the Lille owned player, who is currently on loan at Strasbourg. Lille are looking for around €15m plus bonuses, according to Monday’s edition of L’Equipe.

Savvy Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is quoted as saying: “If he wants to come to Lyon one day, I would be delighted because he is an excellent player. He has, through his youth, his technique and speed, the assets that match the game of Lyon.”

Marseille, Everton and Monaco are named as interested, but it’s Lyon pushing ahead with things and they could get a deal done before the others get their act together.

Everton have been linked with Terrier for some time, with it being clearly a Steve Walsh plan. A year ago L’Equipe reported Everton were keeping an eye on the player, and then in June the club were said to be ‘willing to go on the offensive’ to sign him.

The 20 year old forward is flexible in his position, and has scored 3 goals for Strasbourg this season. What highlights his potential more is 7 goals in 5 appearances for France’s U21 team.

Lille are keen to sell players, and have an agent trying to find deals in England, which helps Everton.

Lyon have a good record of making a success of young French players, and if Aulas gets his man, Everton can probably forget about Terrier then being able to make the move in the future.

Should Walsh want to do anything with his Terrier interest then now is very much the time.
