A couple of days ago we covered claims from Italy that Manchester United had offered to more than double Lorenzo Pellegrini’s wages to tempt him to make the move to Old Trafford.

The player’s agent met with the Premier League club, and that’s when the offer was made on salary.

It’s left the 22 year old ‘torn’ between continuing at AS Roma, and signing a new contract with the Italian club, or going off on an adventure.

Roma were said to be concerned about the player’s €30m release clause. That sounds a good price for the midfielder, and it sounds even better when it’s explained it can be paid in two €15m instalments.

Gazzetta dello Sport have a similar theme in their Wednesday edition. It’s reported the clause ‘is attractive and has encouraged many teams, starting with Manchester United’.

No other interested club is named.

Roma need to work to get a new contract in place, explain Gazzetta, so they don’t lose the youngster for a fee which would be a ‘bad joke’.
