The Moroccan media this week reveals Olympique Marseille’s interest in West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd.
Outlet Lions De L’Atlas writes that the French club’s director Medhi Bentia wants to strengthen their defence for next season, and has already identified his first target.
It’s claimed that West Ham will not keep Aguerd at the club, making the operation a lot easier for Marseille.
Despite a good start with the Hammers, the centre-back struggled with injuries and with David Moyes not really knowing how to use him, and should now leave the London side.
While covering the story, French outlet Le10Sport adds that Marseille’s intention would be to land Aguerd on loan with an option to buy.
It remains to be seen whether West Ham would be on board with that operation. The Hammers spent €35m to get the defender from Rennes in 2022, and have him under contract until 2027. He’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €38m, and it sounds quite reasonable that the club could make a decent sale if they actually choose to let him go.
