Nottingham Forest will officially be signing the best player in the Brazilian League.

That’s because, in an announcement last night, the CBF announced the best players in the competition, and Gustavo Scarpa was named twice. First in the ideal line-up, then as the ‘star of the league’.

The midfielder won the Brazilian League with his club Palmeiras, and as his contract with the Verdão expires in December, he’s ready to join Nottingham Forest as a free agent in January.

The Brazilian League’s ideal line-up was made of Weverton (Palmeiras); Marcos Rocha (Palmeiras), Gustavo Gomez (Palmeiras), Murilo (Palmeiras), Murilo (Palmeiras), Joquin Piquerez (Palmeiras); André (Fluminense), João Gomes (Flamengo); Gustavo Scarpa (Palmeiras), De Arrascaeta (Flamengo); German Cano (Fluminense) and Pedro Raul (Goiás).

Besides choosing Scarpa as the best player, the CBF also announced Palmeiras’ forward Endrick as the league’s revelation and their manager Abel Ferreira as best coach.

Now as Nottingham Forest waits for the midfielder to join them, it’s safe to say he’s pretty hyped up, even though he has a tough job ahead as he must help the Reds to escape relegation this season.

The midfielder made 59 appearances for Palmeiras over the course of the season, scoring 13 goals and assisting another 15.
