Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has told Bild that Julian Brandt will not leave the club amid claims of interest from Newcastle United and others.

Operating on both wings and as an attacking midfielder, he’s managed six goals and five assists from 16 games this season.

Earlier this month, Eddie Howe & co. were able to take a closer look at Brandt, who scored in his side’s Champions League victory over Newcastle at the Signal Iduna Park.

His performances have caught the attention of the Magpies as recent claims from the UK had stated the 27-year-old is wanted by Howe’s side and Arsenal. Bild even state there was talk of an alleged offer of over €50m in January.

After these claims emerged, Bild got in touch with Kehl, to find out if there’s a possibility of Dortmund losing the Germany international to the Premier League sides.

Responding to that, he said: “It’s not for nothing that we only extended the long-term deal with Jullian Brandt until 2026 in April. He is a very important part of our team. That’s why changing is not an issue at all!”

Kehl’s firm stance on Brandt may be tested in the coming couple of windows. Whether that’s by Newcastle United or another club remains to be seen.
