AS Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto has ‘set his sights’ on Aston Villa defender Lucas Digne and the belief is that he can be signed for a reasonable price.

That’s according to Il Romanista, who say the Italian club are eyeing up the opportunity to bring Digne back to the club as a replacement for Leonardo Spinazzola.

They explain that Spinazzola is probably playing his last season in a Roma shirt, with his contract expiring at the end of the season and no contacts being held over a renewal as yet.

Roma don’t seem to be planning to keep him and he could be set to depart on a free transfer, with plans already underway to source a replacement.

Pinto is working on that front and among the hypotheses he is looking at is a move for Aston Villa defender Lucas Digne.

He has ‘set his sights’ on the French defender, who played for Roma earlier in his career, as he has several aspects which could make him an ideal replacement for Spinazzola.

At the moment a move is only one of several ‘market ideas’ but it shouldn’t be discarded outright as Digne does not have an ‘exaggerated price tag’ at Aston Villa.

The feeling is that Digne could be sold for a price Roma could more than afford and, that he could be ‘ready to return’ after several years in England.

It’s a situation to keep an eye on moving forwards, with it all based on Spinazzola’s future first and whether Roma look to renew him or not.
