VFB Stuttgart are “certainly prepared to go to extremes” for Brighton and Hove Albion striker Deniz Undav as he continues to shine at the club.

That’s according to manager Sebastian Hoeneß, who has insisted they will do what they can to get the striker on a permanent basis.

Undav joined the German side on loan in the summer after something of a miserable year at Brighton where he eventually found himself pushed down the pecking order by Evan Ferguson.

He’s since bounced back and then some in Germany,  with 14 goals and five assists in 18 games in the Bundesliga so far despite only featuring in 64% of the available minutes.

Stuttgart are more than keen to keep him permanently and have a clause in his loan deal to do so, although reports in Germany have made it clear that is dependent on his performances.

Thus it can go as high as €20m if Undav continues to shine, a figure that may be difficult for Stuttgart to match, with their current transfer record €11m.

Negotiations with Brighton over a permanent deal are underway and Hoeneß insists they’ll do what they can to get their man.

“(Stuttgart are) certainly prepared to go to extremes,” he said when asked about Undav signing on a permanent basis.

“In the end it’s a business but emotions and passion are also part of it. That’s why I have great hope that things can continue with him.

“It’s impressive how he presents himself in the Bundesliga. He does special things on the pitch, but he’s also really cool and positive off the pitch. He’s not a normal guy in the best sense of the word, he’s a brand for him VfB.

“(It’s) proved to be absolutely right. (He) was a hawk from the start, and is now still a hawk in the best sense of the word. I don’t see any danger of him starting to fly too much as a bird.”
