The Spanish press doesn’t seem happy with Nolito’s first season at Manchester City.

Despite having a good start at the club, the player slowly disappeared from Pep Guardiola’s options, having played only nine league minutes this year.

This lack of game time is the subject of an article in today’s edition of Sport, who call Nolito’s move to Manchester City a fiasco.

The story is pretty much based on numbers, and Nolito’s shortage of minutes, despite the fact City paid €18m for him last summer.

Barcelona were one of the clubs who wanted to sign Nolito by the time, with a special request from Luis Enrique. And although the board said he was too expensive, they ended up spending €30m on Paco Alcácer, who hasn’t been playing either.

CapturarSo Sport’s point is that if Barça’s board had followed Luis Enrique’s request, they would have a cheaper player who would be being used more.

They claim that since the manager is opting for André Gomes instead of Alcácer, Nolito would ‘certainly’ be frequently seen in Barcelona’s team this season.

Maybe that’s why Nolito being unused by Pep Guardiola is so annoying for them.
