The Belgian FA got themselves into a little pickle on Friday by first tweeting Kevin De Bruyne was out of contention for the match against Greece on Saturday, and then deleting that tweet before tweeting the Manchester City player is simply doubtful.

Belgium’s Sporza think the situation is simpler, and claim according to their own information De Bruyne is ‘definitely out’. Struggling with ‘pain in his groin’, the Manchester City player won’t feature for Belgium against Greece, state Sporza.

It’s explained that Roberto Martinez and the Belgian FA feel there is a ‘glimmer of hope’ that De Bruyne can be available for a match that will already be missing Eden Hazard, but Sporza say that’s ‘wishful thinking’.

The tweet situation is certainly strange, and Manchester City may well have already contacted the Belgian FA to clarify the situation for themselves. Pep Guardiola won’t want to be without De Bruyne for Manchester City’s upcoming games and with him feeling groin pain a rest is probably the best idea as far as his club are concerned.
