Lucas DigneCatalan newspaper Sport this weekend looked back on the transfer business their local club Barcelona did over the summer, and it’s fair to say they’re pretty pleased with it.

One surprsing addition for the Spanish champions was Lucas Digne. The 23 year old left back had been on loan last season at AS Roma, because he’d failed to really show PSG he was ready to shine upon his move from Lille.

Digne can probably consider himself fortunate to get the Barcelona move, even though it’s unlikely he’ll be first choice anytime soon. But Barcelona weren’t the only club in for the player, with Sport saying that Liverpool were too.

Barcelona’s techincal director is quoted as dsaying Digne “already had an offer from a good English team but when we get in touch with the agentthe player told us that he wanted to come to Barcelona.”

Sport say that team was Liverpool.

Sitting on Barcelona’s bench was preferable right now for Digne to battling with Alberto Moreno to be a starter for Liverpool. Identifying Digne was good Jurgen Klopp work, but unfortunately for Liverpool he wasn’t persuasive enough to make the player snub Barca.
