After some doubts about his fitness, it seems that Southampton defender Jan Bednarek will be able to feature for Poland in tonight’s game.

The 22-year-old was able to play for 90 minutes in the friendly against Italy on Friday, and according to Sport, has been complaining about tendinitis after the match.

They say Bednarek was a ‘question mark’ for a long time, but the player has declared himself fit to play tonight’s friendly against Ireland.

Sport reckons that the Southampton defender should then have another chance to start, even though there had been some competition for the position.

Signed from Lech Poznan on a €6m deal last year, Bednarek is still fighting to find his place at Southampton. He’s made only eight appearances for the club last season, and this season, he’s still to play a Premier League game, as he’s only featured in the EFL Cup match against Brighton.
