Having received his first 100 minutes or so at PSV in the past two games, Southampton loanee Armel Bella-Kotchap is set to get sidelined for an unusual issue.

As reported by Dutch outlet ED, the defender will miss the weekend’s match due to a ‘painful dental problem’.

Bella-Kotchap has reportedly ‘undergone surgery’ on a wisdom tooth, having it removed on Friday, and is now set to be unavailable for PSV’s match against Almere.

The centre-back had been in Southampton’s squad at the start of the season, and only had his transfer to the Eredivisie side confirmed on deadline day.

That means he could only make two appearances for the club so far. First in his league debut against NEC Nijmegen, and then in the 4-0 loss to Arsenal in the Champions League this week.

Bella-Kotchap is one of the many players who left Southampton after relegation, and is loaned to PSV until the end of the season.

A good season in Eindhoven should be crucial to know what will happen to him next year. In case of a return to St. Mary’s, he has a contract with the Saints until 2026.
