Fanatik report Fenerbahce are working hard to sign former Watford striker Odion Ighalo but the Turkish club face competition from Southampton for the Nigerian’s signature.

Ighalo is expected to terminate his contract with Chinese club Changchun Yatai and Fanatik say along with Fenerbahce and Southampton the forward has received offers from Bundesliga clubs.

With Manolo Gabbiadini linked with a move away from the Premier League club, Saints manager Ralph Hassenhütl could be looking to sign a striker to boost their survival chances, with Ighalo seemingly an option. The Austrian coach was installed as the club’s new manager last month following Mark Hughes departure.

Southampton have struggled for goals this season and have had to rely on summer signing Danny Ings. Ighalo had decent spell in the Premier League with Watford before leaving for Changchun Yatai and was prolific in his first season with the club.

Ighalo scored 21 goals for his club last season.
