As Sporting prepare for their Champions League clash against Tottenham Hotspur this week, their training session today was the subject for many stories in the Portuguese press.

The big news about the session commanded by manager Ruben Amorim was the return of Jeremiah St. Juste. The defender had missed the Lions’ last two games due to injury and was now back with the squad, as reported by Jornal de Notícias.

It still isn’t guaranteed, though, that the Dutchman will be able to play against Tottenham, as the match takes place on Wednesday evening. His situation should be made clearer at Sporting’s press conference on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, there are three Lions’ players who are very unlikely to be fit in time. Those are Sebastian Coates, Luis Neto and Daniel Bragança, as they are all still under the treatment of the club’s medical department.

Sporting also need to worry about the absences of Pedro Gonçalves and Ricardo Esgaio, who are both suspended.

So while the Lions need a positive result against Tottenham to still have a chance of qualifying for the next stage, Ruben Amorim will need multiple changes in his team for their trip to London. It’s worth recalling that back in Portugal, the Lisbon side beat Spurs 2-0.
