Feyenoord star David Hancko has revealed himself as being something of a Liverpool fan, which he said in an interview with Aktuality, with quotes getting covered by FR12.
It all started with Hancko getting asked about a potential move out of Feyenoord in the summer, and admitted it’s possible he’ll be leaving soon.
Despite this, he made it clear he wasn’t in a rush, and an extended stay at the Eredivisie side wouldn’t be the worst thing.
“The right moment will come in my career, but even if I don’t leave, I will play in the Champions League with Feyenoord. I have a great relationship with the club and the supporters,” said Hancko.
“We’ll see what I show this season and at the European Championships in Germany; my performance can help me achieve what I want.”
“It all started with the Istanbul Champions League final in 2005, which my parents allowed me to watch until the end, and I didn’t have to go to bed even when extra time was going on. And then came Martin Škrtel.
“I have been a Liverpool fan ever since. I follow the English Premier League the most, so that is my dream. My role model has always been David Beckham, but I feel most for Liverpool.”
Directly quizzed about a potential move to Liverpool, Hancko tried to leave that possibility open.
“But so far nothing is happening. Because of my new contract it won’t be easy. If there is a possibility and it is good for us, why not?’
Hancko, who arrived at Feyenoord on a €8.3m move from Sparta Praga in 2022, is now valued by Transfermarkt at €35m with his good potential shown in Eredivisie.
He’s already been linked to a couple of Premier League clubs, such as Aston Villa and Newcastle United, and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool would be interested in him with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté currently the masters at the back.
The story points out that Hancko has even attended a match at Anfield in the past, so he’d probably do everything to get that move.
