The Italian campaign for Anthony Martial to join Juventus seems to be officially on. How do you know that? When news is so big to get newspapers’ front pages.

Tuttosport reports the Manchester United player may have been impressed with some quotes from one of his teammates in the French national team.

Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi has been making public compliments to the Turin club, and given the chance that Martial seems to have to join them next summer, that may have messed with his head a little.

It’s a long shot.

There isn’t much regarding contacts between Juve and Manchester United. The claim of a meeting between the player’s staff and Juve directors in London is well known by now, even though Martial’s agent denied it, and nothing seems to have happened between the clubs.

Juve are said to be playing low and watching the opportunity arise. They had already been interested in the player when he left Monaco, but didn’t want to join the auction against the Red Devils at the time.

Now what is important is most of the moves are allegedly being done by Martial’s staff, who aren’t very happy with the arrival of Alexis Sanchez at Old Trafford.

They are the ones who offered the player to the Italian side, according to the claims, and keep sending ‘signs’ that the move could happen.

Juventus would be an attractive destination for two reasons: first for being a strong side, reaching two Champions League finals in the past few years. And also because manager Massimo Allegri has been doing pretty well with young talents lately.

Tuttosport believes that both in France as in Italy, everyone thinks that the best place for Martial is in Turin. And these ‘signs’ keep coming from his home country as well, showing that the possibility is real.

But what the newspaper seem to forget is that Manchester United would also have a part in this. Martial still has a contract running until 2019, with an option to extend for a further year. Maybe that’s why Juve are not making any big moves for now.
