Brighton and Hove Albion striker Tomer Hemed has spoken to the Jewish Chronicle and expressed his regrets at remaining with the Premier League side beyond the last transfer window

Hemed spoke after Israel’s 2-1 defeat to Romania and said: “When I saw that there was one day left until the transfer window closed in January and the strikers had arrived, my agent received an inquiry from Levante and other teams in Spain but I believed I could continue playing with Brighton. I didn’t see things working out the way they did.”

Hemed joined Brighton in 2015 and played a part in the club getting promotion to the Premier League last season, playing 33 games for Chris Hughton’s side.

However, this season he’s made just 16 Premier League appearances for the Seagulls, scoring just 2 goals.

Despite his lack of chances he signed a contract extension with Brighton last November which will keep him at the Amex stadium until June 2019.

The 30 year old hasn’t been selected for Brighton’s last six Premier League match day squads, and it seems he has a decision to make this summer.

At this stage of his career Hemed needs to be playing regular football, and may need to move on in the window.
