Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport today features a big interview with Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

With Spurs currently standing on top of the Premier League table, we can probably say that his summer move to the London side worked pretty well for him.

In quotes featured by Sport Italia, Vicario talked about his decision to join Tottenham, and showed to be very focused on the good work they’ve been doing this season.

“I arrived with great desire and not setting myself any limits. I entered a different mentality, both for me and for the team: it’s the one that Postecoglou brought this year, one that sees us all participating and involved with a great team spirit,” Vicario told Gazzetta Dello Sport.

“I think for the moment the fruits of the labour are showing, but we will evaluate later. We have to keep pushing, because now the iron is hot and must be struck.”

Regarding his experience in English football, Vicario makes it clear that this had been a long-time objective for him, and he seems pretty happy to have done that choice.

“This was what I wanted and I didn’t want to listen to anything else. As soon as I knew there was an opportunity to come here I would have signed in blood, I would have walked from Italy.

“I am delighted to be playing in the most beautiful league in the world. I tell myself every day, as soon as the alarm clock goes off in the morning: go to the pitch because you have to play in the most beautiful league in the world.”

With no European football this season, Tottenham are having a week to rest while they prepare for the upcoming challenges in the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are going to South London on Friday to play Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Then there’s a tough home challenge against Chelsea the other week.

Spurs currently sit on top of the table with 23 points, while Manchester City and Arsenal follow them with 21 each.
