If Gazzetta dello Sport are to be believed on Friday, then Roma are interested in Celtic’s Moussa Dembélé.
As timing goes, this comes less than 24 hours after Brendan Rodgers told the press the club were not interested in seeing the France U21 leave Celtic Park in January, but that’s how these things work.
The Italian newspaper explain the 21-year-old is one of a few names on Monchi’s list to potentially replace Edin Dzeko were the Bosnian to complete his move to Chelsea, yet, and this is good news for Celtic, he doesn’t quite fit Eusebio di Francesco’s plans.
The Roma manager is said to be preferring a left-footed attacker, also capable of playing down the right, something Dembélé is not.
Furthermore, the cost of the operation would probably be too high, and the Serie A outfit only have a few days to sort it all out as we near the end of the January window.
This seems like a very long shot, but if Dzeko gets sold and Roma get desperate, perhaps they might throw some money at Celtic for the Frenchman.
Any sale would be a profit for the Scottish Premiership champions, and the Italian club would also be getting a player they’ll probably be able to make some money off down the line.
