When we last left the Ivan Perisic to Manchester United saga, we speculated that Ed Woodward could be playing a bit of a sneaky game wit the Italian side, who need to raise €30m before the end of the month to meet FFP regulations.
Reported to have bid that exact amount, our gut feeling was that the Red Devils’ CEO could be ready to wait until the Serie A side get desperate and have to accept the offer on the table.
Gazzetta dello Sport have a brief update on Friday, stating José Mourinho is still very keen on signing the Croatian star, but that his former club remain very insistent on their asking price: €50-55m.
It seems this one could easily drag on until the end of the month, especially since Luciano Spalletti would prefer to keep the 29-year-old for next season if possible, urging his new club to look at other options to get the required €30m.
As for the player himself, Gazzetta seem to think Perisic wouldn’t be against staying at Inter Milan next season, even if he has apparently already agreed terms with Manchester United for around €6m/season.
