Every time Juventus get linked with a new midfielder, the target becomes less and less likely to want to join.
Following the events of transfer deadline day when Axel Witsel was all but set to sign for the Serie A champions before the deal fell through when Zenit Saint-Petersburg pulled the plug, the Belgium remains their number one target.
However, this hasn’t stopped many Italian websites speculating who th club could go for should the offer for Witsel fail once again, and the latest is Manchester City’s Fernandinho.
Seemingly forgetting the defensive midfielder has played in all but one of the club’s games under Pep Guardiola, Calciomercato.it reckon Juventus could tempt the Brazilian to join them on a free next summer.
With a contract running out in June 2017, you would expect, considering his importance in the Spanish manager’s plans so far, a new deal to be put in front of him at some stage in the near future.
That still hasn’t happened yet, and that leaves the door open for an exit, but we don’t buy it.
There have already been a few reports about contract renewal talks set to start at some stage in the near future, and that seems like the most logical option.
