The name of Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is suddenly talked in the same breath as Everton today.

That happened in an interview that scout Carlo Jacomuzzi, who once worked at the Premier League club, gave to Radio Punto Nuovo.

There he was asked if Toffees’ boss Carlo Ancelotti could have had the Georgian star during his time at Everton.

“No, his name never came up in Everton days,” Jacomuzzi told Punto Novo (via Napoli Magazine).

“Even in Georgia, my manager friends never told me about him, to be honest. When I worked with Ancelotti, I never heard the name of Kvicha. Napoli have been good now with the managers and the work they have done now with Kvaratskhelia, not with what followed in Ancelotti’s time. Always remember: it’s easy to say after that you were already following a footballer. Good observers say ‘I want him!’, Not ‘I saw him too…'”.

Kvaratskhelia joined Napoli on a €10m deal from Dinamo Batumi this summer, and has had a quite impressive start at the Serie A side.

He has seven goals and eight assists in 14 appearances for the club so far, and his early success in the Champions League is already making him a big name in the rumour mill.

With Ancelotti’s past at the Italian club, it’d be natural for him to pay attention to what is happening there.

Everton aren’t interested in the player right now, and even if they do start thinking about it, we can bet there will be a very big battle to sign him in the upcoming transfer windows.

This isn’t the first time Jacomuzzi has spoken to Punto Novo about the Toffees after leaving the club, and he continues to be an interesting source as to how they operated during a more successful period under Ancelotti.
