Having already lost some important players to Saudi teams this summer, Liverpool are facing the threat once again.

This comes from RMC Sport, who cover the reports that Joe Gomez has been targeted by Al-Ittihad, but also reveal their interest in another player in Jürgen Klopp’s team.

That man is Ibrahima Konaté, who is a clear starter at Liverpool alongside Virgil Van Dijk, and would be a huge loss for the Reds were he to leave.

It’s reported that Al-Ittihad, wanting a new centre-back, first targeted Jean-Clair Todibo at Nice, who has rejected them.

That’s why they are looking elsewhere, and have set their sights on the Liverpool duo, although to no avail just yet.

RMC Sport explain the Saudi side had ‘thought about’ Ibrahima Konaté, but the player is ‘focused on the Reds and the France national team’, wanting to be a starter in Didier Deschamps’ squad during the 2024 Euros.

He has far better chances of achieving that by being a regular at Liverpool than in Saudi Arabia, and that is why he wants to remain at Anfield for the time being, turning down the opportunity to likely earn a lot more money in the process.
