Albania manager Sylvinho has revealed what went on with Chelsea striker Armando Broja after he was ruled out of the international break, despite being called up to the squad.

The Albania manager has been speaking on the striker, in comments relayed by FC Inter News, looking to allay any fears over him.

Broja recently made his return from a cruciate ligament rupture suffered last season which saw him spend 274 days on the treatment table and miss 34 games for the Blues.

They’ve been integrating him back slowly to avoid any repeat injury or further problems handing him 11 minutes in a loss to Aston Villa, 65 minutes against Fulham and then 45 minutes against Burnley.

The latter was scheduled to be more, but he was pulled out of the game with a minor complaint, which was not expected to rule him out of the international break with Albania.

However, Sylvinho revealed last week that the Chelsea striker would not be available and has now gone into more details of what happened behind the scenes, admitting that it was the advice of his own medical team that led to Broja missing out.

“What happened to Broja is very simple, it arose from a serious injury, he had to stay off the pitch for nine months,” he said.

“He came back a few weeks ago, he played a few minutes in the first match, the same in the second. Then, one match before coming to us, he played 45 minutes and was replaced due to some physical problems.

“Normally he had a check-up at Chelsea before coming to us, the checks had gone well. When he came here, he trained, but he still had a bit of concern: we sat down and spoke to the doctor, and we were in constant contact with Chelsea to find out about his injury.

“It was clear that he wasn’t he could play and together with the club and the player we agreed that he would return to Chelsea and begin his recovery. That’s the whole story.”
