One of the big factors that makes Liverpool’s hunt for Ruben Amorim quite interesting is that the manager is pretty young, having turned 39 this year.
It turns out that as Portuguese newspaper Record today features a story with Hasan Çetinkaya, who’s the agent of Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres, he recalls something nice about the manager.
Çetinkaya also represents Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof, and pointed out that the two had a good relationship back during their time at Benfica.
“At Benfica he played with another client of mine, Lindelof, and I knew from him that he was an exceptional person.”
Liverpool are said to be working to get Amorim to Anfield in the summer, with Sporting already aware of the Reds’ intentions.
We shall soon get to see whether Amorim will meet Lindelof in a match between Manchester United and Liverpool next season, with the Red Devils’ defender probably feeling a little old if that happens.
The coach belonged to Benfica between 2008 and 2017, having a couple of loan spells at Braga and Al-Wakrah in that period. It was in the summer of 2018 that he started his career as a manager, first in charge of Casa Pia, then having jobs at Braga B, Braga and Sporting, who he joined in 2020.
