Once again, in their Saturday edition, L’Equipe reiterate Liverpool and Arsenal interest in Thomas Lemar.
It’s stated both clubs have maintained contact over a potential transfer for the player, and both got their big offers, of €90m and €100m respectively, in before the summer window closed.
At that time, perhaps due to the late nature of the bigger offers, both were refused, but whilst L’Equipe go over the situation about once every couple of weeks, they ignore what they claimed on September 1st.
After the window had closed, the French newspaper reported that Lemar was very much convinced on a move to Liverpool, so interest from elsewhere may have been fruitless anyway.
Lemar plumping for Liverpool was said to be a ‘sporting choice’, and he would have to get over his transfer to the ‘mythical club’ falling apart.
Covering the L’Equipe claims, we said: ‘A little tease is thrown in at the end, with it being stated the France international may only have to wait a matter of months for the opportunity to present itself again.’
If Lemar’s preference was so strong as described back then, it would be a surprise if he’s completely forgotten about that, but the French newspaper seem to have.
