Chelsea have again been brought into the Thomas Lemar mini saga by L’Equipe.

The French newspaper say Chelsea came into the picture very recently, and are one of a number of options for Lemar, who is keen to leave AS Monaco for a Premier League team.

L’Equipe started the Lemar to Chelsea rumour on December 12th, when they reported Chelsea were ready to ‘ambush’ Arsenal and Liverpool and sign Lemar.

Chelsea had initiated some kind of contact ahead of a potential signing and were presented as strong new contenders for the deal.

Then, on December 22nd, the French newspaper covered Chelsea’s interest again, and explained the club would have to put forward an ‘offer which cannot be refused’ in order to get the player in January.

After the earlier claims, Chelsea have become a big part of the Lemar rumour, and L’Equipe throwing them in again today will only serve to push the story further.

It still feels, however, that Chelsea are being used as window dressing to make the whole thing more exciting.
