As Manchester City prepare for the Champions League semifinal against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, Pep Guardiola could be set to receive some good news coming from Spain.
That’s because according to local reports, David Alaba is now ‘practically ruled out’ of Wednesday’s match due to injury.
Cope (via Mundo Deportivo) claims the defender has a muscle tear which stopped him from even training with his teammates, and now there’s a ‘very, very remote’ chance he could face Manchester City.
Alaba has been struggling with this issue for a couple of weeks, and that’s the reason he was subbed off at half-time in the first leg at the Etihad. It started as an overload and now turned into a ‘small fibrillar rupture’.
Mundo Deportivo points out that Nacho is now expected to replace Alaba against Manchester City, as he’s always been Carlo Ancelotti’s option on the occasions when one of their centre-backs was injured this season.
Following the Citizen’s 4-3 win last week, the news undoubtedly gives them more confidence to get a good result in Spain which takes them to the Champions League final for the second time in two years.
