On deadline day of the winter market, Rangers took Ianis Hagi on loan from Genk with an option to buy.
Hagi has already impressed for Rangers, managing three goals and two assists (all competitions) in his first two months.
On March 2nd, we relayed news from Italy that Lazio sporting director Igli Tare likes the 21-year-old and there’s been ‘some contact’ with his entourage.
La Lazio Siamo Noi now brings the latest update and they state the Romania international ‘has been proposed’ to Lazio.
Although Steven Gerrard’s side can redeem Hagi, it’s claimed the player isn’t keen to continue with Rangers as he prefers to compete in a league which is more high profile than the Scottish Premiership.
According to the outlet, Hagi would cost around €5-6m.
Should Rangers decide to exercise the option to make the player’s stay at Ibrox permanent, then Lazio will have to negotiate with Gerrard’s side for Hagi’s transfer.
Apart from Hagi, Lazio have also identified Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud as a target to strengthen their attacking division for next season. The Frenchman is a free agent in the summer.
