Last month, we covered a story regarding Everton’s alleged interest in Red Star Belgrade’s Richmond Boakye, currently scoring for fun in Serbia.

Spending the second half of last season on loan there from Latina Calcio before moving permanently in the summer, the 24-year-old striker’s 18 goals in 24 appearances so far this season have caught the eye of a few clubs, with the Toffees allegedly sending scouts to look at his performances.

The player’s agent was even quoted as saying both Everton and Borussia Mönchengladbach ‘began the mission’ to sign the player.

We haven’t seen much evidence of that since, but DH in Belgium claim over the weekend the striker still features on Everton’s list, while Chelsea are also said to be keeping an eye on his performances.

While Everton’s need for a prolific goalscorer since Romelu Lukaku’s departure has already been well documented, Antonio Conte’s side aren’t exactly short of goalscoring talent these days, with both Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi already at the club.

The reason for DH’s report is Anderlecht, who aren’t exactly happy with Lukas Teodorczyk’s performances this season, have made Boakye their number one target for January.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this one, but it seems that, for now, it’s advantage to the Belgians, who seem like a club far more suited to the striker’s career trajectory than Everton these days.

The pressure on him to perform straight away at Goodison Park, in a new league, would be immense, while a move to Anderlecht might allow him more time to settle, and eventually use the Jupiler Pro League side as a suitable platform to then get a bigger move.

Then again, that’s just our thought on the matter.
