It appears that Preston North End are trying to get involved in the final days of the transfer window, targeting a rather surprising name to bolster their squad.

His name is Konrad De La Fuente, and he used to play for Barcelona’s youth teams, before he went to Marseille in France.

The news that Preston are keen on the player, who has three caps for the USA national team, comes from Foot Mercato in France, who reveal that following his return from the failed loan at Olympiakos, the 23-year-old has received some late interest for his services.

The Championship side are currently 11th in the Championship, and really not that far off a playoff spot, which is why Ryan Lowe will be looking for that extra spark to try and get his side up the table.

Foot Mercato explain the player, who wants out from Marseille and hasn’t played football since September 11th, ‘has been offered a bit everywhere in France’, but seemingly also abroad, as they state that he has the most chances of landing in the Eredivisie, where Utrecht and AZ Alkmaar are keen on him.

However, so are Preston, and they could provide some interesting competition for the Dutch sides, depending on how much offer and playing time they can offer De La Fuente.

Now, it remains to be seen whether the Lilywhites take this interest any further in the next 48 hours or so.
