Italian manager Roberto Mancini says his greatest feat as a manager was winning the Premier League with Manchester City.
Mancini arrived at the Etihad in 2009, replacing Mark Hughes midway through the 2009/10 campaign.
He led City to a fifth-place finish that year, their highest ever at the time, before securing fourth spot – thus Champions League qualification – and the FA Cup the following year.
It was his third season in charge that proved to be his most successful, though, as his City side embarked in one of the most famous title races ever with Manchester United.
That race ended in success on the final day of the year as Sergio Agüero’s last gasp goal against Queens Park Rangers secured Manchester City top spot and their first-ever Premier League title.
He became just the second Italian manager to win in England’s top flight, following in Carlo Ancelotti’s footsteps and says it remains his most significant achievement as a coach.
“The Premier League with Manchester City in 2012 (is my best)” he told Il Sole 24 Ore, relayed by Tuttomercatoweb.
“For an Italian to win abroad is always important.
“Not only that it was a title won in a comeback and at the last second of the last match of the championship…”
