New Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou could be set to lose a member of his backroom staff as Yaya Toure has been approached by Standard de Liège.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says that the current Tottenham youth academy coach could be on his way to Belgium.

According to his information, Toure ‘has been approached’ by new Liège manager Carl Hoefken to become his ‘first assistant’ at the club next season.

How this approach was received or if Toure is interested in the move isn’t mentioned as yet, with Tavolieri stating it is a case of ‘wait and see’ on the former midfielder at this moment in time.

Toure has been at Tottenham since August last year when he took up a position in their youth sector following spells as assistant manager at Olimpik Donetsk and Akhmat Grozny between February 2021 and December 2021.

He stepped into coaching following the end of his playing career in January 2020 and has seemingly made enough of an impression on Hoefkens to be offered an assistant role under him at Liège.
