Aston Villa are ‘finalising details’ on Monchi’s contract as they look to complete a deal for him ‘in the next few hours’.
That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who say Sevilla are ‘expected to announce’ his departure at some point today after delaying the matter.
The newspaper explains that the departure was expected to be made official earlier on Friday, but the Aston Villa are currently finalising the details of director of football’s contract at the club.
Monchi himself has not commented on his departure as yet but he has been ‘seen crestfallen’ around Sevilla’s stadium, the Sánchez-Pizjuán, when coming in and out of meetings with Sevilla’s hierarchy at the offices within the stadium.
He has refused to speak publicly amid a week of negotiations, with his determined to move to Aston Villa and reunite with Unai Emery at the club.
That now appears to be close to becoming a reality as Villa work on the details of his deal and Sevilla wait to announce the move.
