Diogo Dalot may be a mystery to Manchester United supporters, but it’s fair to say many FC Porto fans won’t be experts on him either.

With just a handful of appearances for the club’s first team, 19 year old Dalot was seen as the man to take over from the very highly rated Ricardo Pereira, who has just signed for Leicester City.

After claims of interest were first pushed by Duncan Castles of The Daily Record, and then worry from Portugal was reported that a deal could be on, O Jogo now say a move to Manchester United is expected to be announced soon.

O Jogo are the more Porto leaning newspaper from Portugal.

In an article on Tuesday night, O Jogo go with the headline ‘Diogo Dalot moves to Manchester United’ and believe the transfer will be announced shortly.

It’s stated that according to a source at FC Porto, the club have tried to renew Dalot’s contract, which was due to expire next year and has a €20m buyout clause, but have been unable to do so.

The agent and father of the player are presented as being behind the decision to move, and they have already informed Porto the player plans to leave.

Manchester United haven’t yet triggered the buyout clause, and Porto will announce that via their stock market mechanism when the Premier League club do ao.

A Bola say it’ll be announced in the ‘next few hours’, Record also believe Jose Mourinho’s side will pay the termination clause.

If the club had been looking for a ready made right back then 24 year old Pereira would have been the more obvious option, so if the signing goes through it’ll be interesting to see what Mourinho’s plans are for the player.
