It wasn’t only the English media who found out about Tottenham Hotspur’s agreement to sign José Mourinho last night. It seems part of the Portuguese press got a little piece of information as well.
In today’s edition of newspaper A Bola, it’s reported that at the time they wrote their story, club and manager were sorting ‘the last details’ of the deal, with the Special One being presented today.
They got it completely right, and there are actually a few more interesting details on why Mourinho chose to accept the job at Spurs.
They say the manager has rejected many offers to work again, and some of them were ‘almost irresistible’ from a financial point of view. But he was waiting for a project which would allow him to win again.
What A Bola is not so sure is what Tottenham offered Mourinho to convince him they’re the right club. They say it ‘remains to be seen’ what is being put on the table for him to fight with the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.According to the newspaper, the negotiations between Tottenham and Mourinho started ‘a few days’ ago.
