Tottenham Hotspur fullback Emerson Royal continues to share details of Arsenal’s attempt to sign him this summer.
Last week, when speaking to ESPN Brasil, the player had already revealed the chat he had with Gunners director Edu Gaspar regarding a move from Barcelona.
Now Emerson was interviewed by Globo Esporte in a very long chat, mostly about the new chance he’s having at the national team, but, once again, he was asked if it’s true he had contact with Arsenal, who are now named as his ‘city rivals’.
“Yes, I had a conversation with Edu Gaspar,” Emerson Royal told Globo Esporte.
“In fact, I didn’t even know Barcelona were talking to other clubs, that was before. I spoke with Edu Gaspar, we had a conversation, he’s Brazilian, he’s been at the national team, he’s an exceptional person, he gave me incredible attention when we spoke.”
In the two interviews, Emerson never makes it clear if Arsenal turned out to be a real option for him or if the Gunners never found an agreement with Barcelona for his transfer.
Either way, the player claims to be very happy at Tottenham. In fact, he seems thrilled everywhere, as he also talked to Globo Esporte about the constant smile he has on his face.
“In life we have two options: face it with happiness or sadness. Sometimes we see people who have everything and are not happy. For me, everything is in happiness. If you’re happy, you have it all. I take this with me regardless of the situation. Few times in my life I was sad, angry, upset, I try to take things with a smile on my face. ‘m a big believer in energy, if you’re happy, energies conspire in your favour. That’s why I always have a smile on my face, so things tend to work out.”
