Atlético Madrid forward Joao Felix has insisted he was not personally made aware of a bid from Manchester United this summer.

The Portuguese forward has long been linked with Manchester United, with them one of the sides interested in him when he was leaving Benfica in 2019.

He eventually ended up at Atlético in a €127.2m move and has been a regular for them since, making 116 appearances in all competitions, scoring 29 goals and registering 18 assists.

This summer was the first in which he’s been strongly linked with a move away from the Spanish club and it was Manchester United who were keen.

Reports in Spain insisted they were determined to secure the Portuguese forward’s signature and that a €130m bid was submitted to Atlético.

A move ultimately never happened, with Manchester United instead spending their money on the likes of Antony and Casemiro and it seems the player was never truly involved in any potential negotiations.

“Nothing came to me, it’s a matter for the presidents. I am here,” he told Marca when quizzed on the rumours.
