Trabzon based regional newspaper Taka report Trabzonspor are interested in signing Chancel Mbemba from Newcastle United.

Mdemba has also been linked with FC Porto in the past week.

Trabzonspor were recently linked with Chelsea’s Kenneth Omeruo and Sunderland’s Papy Djilobodji, but Taka say Mbemba is now an option.

The DR Congo international is likely to leave Newcastle United this summer after dropping down the pecking order behind the likes of Ciaran Clark, Jamaal Lascelles and Florian Lejuene.

According to Taka, Trabzonspor can’t afford to sign him on a permanent deal due to their financial situation, and subsequently the Turkish club are looking to loan him for the season.

Newcastle United are reportedly prepared to loan him for free to Trabzonspor, but the Turkish side want him to lower his wage demands, which are said to be €1.1m a season. The Premier League side want the Turkish side to cover his entire salary.

This sounds beyond optimistic from the Turkish club. Newcastle have been close to a permanent deal with Porto, so there’s no reason for them to consider a free loan.
