Swedish outlet Kvalls Posten today has interesting updates on the situation of former Blackburn, Norwich City and Swansea City player Martin Olsson.
Currently without a club, the 31-year-old has been training at Helsingborgs IF, as he works to be in good shape for his next challenge.
Kvalls Posten writes that the player was close to joining West Brom in the January transfer window, having left the national team camp on deadline day to complete the move.
But the deal couldn’t be sorted before the end of the window, and the defender is having a hard time finding a new club, since the Swedish market is one of the few which is still open.
“The idea is that they should start running and exercise a little with us. There is no set time for how long they are going to train, but they are just running,” said the club’s chief scout Adil Kizil, referring to Martin and his brother Marcus.
Now could West Brom still try to get Martin Olsson in the summer window? That would certainly depend on his chances of getting a contract with a new club in the next few months, and how his free agent status actually works.
