Super-agent Jorge Mendes held a meeting Joao Felix last night regarding his future amid increasing links to Manchester United.

That’s according to Marca, who say the pair met to find a way out of the player’s ‘complicated situation’ at Atlético Madrid.

They explain that the Portuguese forward wants to leave the Spanish side as he ‘can’t stand’ the situation he currently finds himself in and is angry at his role in the team.

He wants to leave and start afresh somewhere else, with his lack of minutes in the 0-0 draw with Club Brugge this week finally breaking his relationship with Diego Simeone.

That made headlines and 24 hours later the player met with Mendes in a restaurant in Madrid to discuss his future at the Wanda Metropolitano.

This week has seen him linked with a move to Manchester United in several reports and it is not the first time they have been suitors, having also been in the picture when he was leaving Benfica.

He ultimately went to Atlético Madrid that summer and has been there ever since but his time at the club has not been a happy one.

This season he started as a key player but has quickly fallen away, resulting in him not getting a single minute in that 0-0 with Club Brugge and now ‘his intention is to leave’.

The situation will depend on Atlético’s willingness to do a deal as they’ve already rejected an effort from Barcelona, who wanted a swap deal with Antoine Griezmann, and several European giants who have made offers.

Felix currently has a release clause worth €350m and Atlético don’t intend to give him away on the cheap, so it is going to take a big sum of money to convince them to grant his wish.

The intent is there, though, and the meeting with Mendes will only add to that desire, with Manchester United very much ‘attentive’ to the situation.
