For some time it’s been abundantly clear that someone, perhaps close to the player, has been building transfer hype around Luka Jovic.
Pretty much every conceivable club which could be linked has been, and if claims are to believed there’s set to be a summer battle between Europe’s great and good to sign the 21 year old.
Chelsea have been named repeatedly, and today they’re the only English club referenced by Marca, who cover the player whilst looking at Barcelona interest.
The Spanish newspaper says Jovic is ‘on the list’ of Chelsea, Bayern Munich and ‘other clubs in Serie A’. Real Madrid are also said to have shown some sort of interest.
Jovic has 15 goals so far this season for his loan club Eintracht Frankfurt. The Germans secured a €6m buying option when agreeing the loan with Benfica, and they’ll certainly be using this.
That he scored on Wednesday evening as Serbia drew 1-1 with Germany is only helping to encourage the relentless hype.
Of course, any Chelsea effort depends on whether CAS will let the club register players whilst they appeal against a FIFA ban.
