Bologna were the surprise packages of Serie A last season. However, their start to the 2024/25 season hasn’t been quite so impressive under Vincenzo Italiano.
Their opening Champions League game ended in a draw against Shakhtar Donetsk and their next game will see them take on Liverpool tomorrow.
While the Rossoblu haven’t been at their best in recent weeks, the Italian media has fired a warning to Liverpool ahead of the clash at Anfield.
Remo Freuler, who was at Nottingham Forest not too long ago, has beaten the Reds as an Atalanta player and Corriere dello Sport state that the midfielder ‘knows how to beat Liverpool’.
He is now a leader at Bologna, who are very happy to have someone like him in their side.
They praise how the Switzerland international played at Euro 2024 for his country and returned to Bologna before he contractually had to, taking a very small break to refresh himself. And despite some fitness concerns this season, he’s always been available to Vincenzo Italiano’s side.
Freuler has been described as the ‘indispensable pawn’ that was vital under Thiago Motta and is becoming a key part of the side under the new manager.
They expect him to play an important role at Anfield on Wednesday and it appears the weight of Bologna’s expectation is being put largely on his shoulders.
