The Italian media continue to present Federico Chiesa as being keen on a move to Newcastle United this summer.

It’s not usual for young Italian stars to leave Serie A, and the Magpies could secure two in one window. Having already bought Sandro Tonali from AC Milan, they will seem a little more attractive given any further Italian arriving will already have a compatriot in place.

Champions League football is also key and that Newcastle qualified for the competition has opened doors to targets who may have otherwise been reluctant.

Friday’s edition of Corriere della Sera says Chiesa is ‘intrigued by Newcastle’, having previously turned down Aston Villa.

Eddie Howe’s side have made a proposal, according to the report, and it hasn’t been completely dismissed. There’s no indication of where things stand, or a hint at a transfer fee.

Given their problems, Juventus would clearly listen to any offer which arrived on their table, so Chiesa’s personal desire will be key.

The Turin club are also listening to offers for Dusan Vlahovic, who has been linked with multiple Premier League clubs.
