On December 17th, Le Parisien reported Lyon have set sights on Everton left-back Lucas Digne. The newspaper also explained Thomas Lemar and Steven Nzonzi are two other players that have ‘pleased certain Lyon decision makers’ in recent weeks.

Nzonzi is currently on loan at Galatasaray from AS Roma and earlier reports suggested the midfielder’s temporary stay with the Turkish club could be cut short and he’ll return to the Serie A side.

TuttoMercatoWeb have also relayed this information and further go on to add Lyon and Everton are looking at the former Stoke City man.

Lyon want to strengthen the squad in January to be in a better position when they face Juventus in the Champions League knockout stages and Nzonzi has emerged as a target. He is ‘highly respected’ by their manager Rudi Garcia.

The Toffees tried to convince the World Cup winner before he joined Galatasaray, according to the claims, but he preferred the Turkish club because of the opportunity to play in the Champions League.

TMW now reports there’s ‘contacts’ with Everton, and Carlo Ancelotti’s potential arrival at Goodison Park can change the situation quickly.

Going back to Digne, today’s L’Equipe has a full page on potential Lyon signings and the Everton player doesn’t get a mention.
