Sometimes it doesn’t take long for all your good work to come crashing down and for former Fulham midfielder Franck Zambo Anguissa, that’s certainly been the case.

That’s at least according to journalist Riccardo Trevisani, who has criticised the midfielder and likened his current ‘terrifying’ form to the kind he was enduring at Fulham.

Anguissa has been a key player for the Italian side since joining from Fulham in August 2021, impressing hugely in his first season at the club and making the move permanent in 2022.

He was again a key part for them last season, impressing in central midfield as Napoli romped to the title under Luciano Spalletti and appeared to be on the verge of an exciting new era.

Instead Spalletti’s departure in the summer has seen Napoli completely collapse this season and several of their stars, including Anguissa, fall with them.

His performances have not been up to the standards he had previously set and, according to Trevisani, he’s now more reminiscent of the player that was struggling at Fulham as they were relegated from the Premier League in 2021.

“They keep saying that coaches don’t count,” he said.

“Among Giuntoli’s purchases there is a certain Anguissa. Have you seen him without Spalletti? He is having a 4th season like when he finished last with Fulham in the Premier League.

“Anguissa at the World Cup without Spalletti was terrifying, exceptional with Spalletti at Napoli and terrifying again without Spalletti in Naples.”
