On Wednesday, Blick in Switzerland reported Manchester United are interested in Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

The 33-year-old has less than a year left on his contract, making his situation uncertain.

Sky Deutschland have covered Manchester United interest in signing the Switzerland international.

It’s said the keeper has received a request from the Red Devils after they knocked on the Bundesliga side’s door. The English club ‘would like to sign’ him, to be a backup for David de Gea.

Sommer is ‘very flattered’ by the offer made by Manchester United. Despite this, Sky add the former Basel man make think twice over a move to Old Trafford because he ‘does not want to risk’ his chances of representing Switzerland at the 2022 World Cup.

A move to United would see him initially become the second choice keeper, behind De Gea, this may have a direct impact on his chances of being first choice for the Swiss national side.

According to the report, Sommer has a renewal offer from Mönchengladbach that is ready to be signed.
