Following initial reports from Brazil saying Wolverhampton Wanderers and Flamengo have an agreement for the transfer of João Gomes, we now get to see stories about the next steps for this move.

According to journalist Venê Casagrande, the midfielder is still to receive the boarding pass to fly to England.

A person from Wolves told the reporter that the player is, ‘at most’, travelling on Monday.

Casagrande brings on Twitter a few more details about the move, claiming that even though that was only reported on Thursday, the talks between the clubs had been on for days.

So when Flamengo were in talks with Marseille for the signing of Gerson, who was announced on the 3rd of January, they already knew Gomes could be leaving ‘at any moment’.

Reports from Brazil say Wolves are spending €17m to sign the midfielder. And according to Goal journalist Raisa Simplicio, Flamengo are internally ‘celebrating’ that deal.

The Rio de Janeiro club reportedly believe this was a ‘great sale’, considering that River Plate sold Enzo Fernandez to Benfica for €10m plus €8m in bonuses.
