While it’s been sunshine, lollipops and rainbows for the kids at Chelsea this season, it’s been considerably gloomier for the older heads.
The likes of Pedro and Olivier Giroud have found themselves on the outside looking in this season, wondering what’s next as their contracts come to an end.
Both players were heavily linked with moves elsewhere in January but ultimately ended up staying at Stamford Bridge to ride out the storm.
That’s worked out well for both of them it seems, particularly Pedro, who, after basically sitting out most of the season, has been in impressive form of late.
He’s started Chelsea’s last two games in all competitions and shone, with a solid display in the win over Liverpool followed by a goal and assists in the 4-0 defeat of Everton.
Those displays have shown he is ‘more important and decisive than ever’ and enjoying a ‘second youth’ with the Blues, according to El Dorsal.
Indeed, the performance against Everton has earned him plenty of praise, with the website saying he was ‘cheered out of Stamford Bridge’.
It seems unlikely his situation at Chelsea will change and he’s destined to leave this summer when he has ‘one of the most important decisions of his career’ to make; where he goes next.
That isn’t speculated, although it claimed he will have plenty of options to choose from as his ‘fitness is optimal’.
For now, he’ll be focused on Chelsea, where, after a dire few months, it seems things have finally picked up for the forward.
