With Edinson Cavani asking Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick to have a couple of extra days off following the international duty, there was of course some anger from the fans who won’t see the striker in the squad on Friday night.

As Spanish outlet AS covers the news today, they only take it as one more sign that the 34-year-old is ‘destined’ to leave Old Trafford in the summer.

Their story claims Cavani’s departure is ‘imminent’, as his ‘end’ at Manchester United is ‘getting closer every day’.

AS points out that the striker was ‘affected’ by Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival in the team, and that’s one of the reasons why he already thought of leaving in the January transfer window.

Despite the many links with Barcelona for a winter move, AS now only lists South America sides as potential destinations for Cavani, who has never hidden his desire to return to his continent in the future.

They say Corinthians are one of the most interested clubs, while River Plate and Boca Juniors would like to take him to Argentina.

The Uruguayan star has two goals and one assist for Manchester United this season, and his contract with the club expires in the summer.
